Botanical name - Phyllanthus niruri

Description - Phyllanthus niruri, is a annual herb, quite glabrous, stem often branched at the base, leaf bearing branchlets slender, spreading. Numerous, subsessile, distichous leaves. Male flowers in axillary, females in solitary. Capsules depressed- globose, smooth scarcely -lobed, seeds trigonous, rounded.

Chemical Constituents- It contains an alkaloid.

Use - Plant is used in cough cold, respiratory problems, skin diseases, dyspepsia, in jaundice it is used as a main medicine. Used in dropsical affections as diuretic. It is reported to be useful in jaundice, also in gonorrhoea and other urino-genital troubles. Roots are considered to promote sleep
