Rasna is a perennial, aromatic, rhizomatous herb, 1.8-2.5 m in height. Leaves are oblong, lanceolate,glabrous, acuminate, with very short petiols, ligules short, rounded, ciliate. Flowers are fragrant,greenish white with red veined lips, in dense panicles. Fruits are capsules, orange red when ripe.
Used parts: Rhizomes
Ayurveda advises Rasna in vitiated conditions of Vata and Kapha, arthritis, inflammations, stomatopathy, cough, asthma, bronchitis, hiccough, dyspepsia, obesity, diabetes, tubercular glands and intermittent fevers.
